St. Lucia will always hold a special place in our hearts because it was where we decided to spend our honeymoon. This Caribbean island was the perfect place to unwind, relax and explore. St. Lucia is an island in the eastern Caribbean. Along its coastline you will find stunning beaches, diving sites, luxurious resorts and local fishing villages.
If you are a nature lover you will love St. Lucia! Covered by tropical rainforests, the island is one of the Caribbean’s most undisturbed locations. There is ample opportunity to view birds, wildlife and native plants.
If you are looking for mud baths, hot springs, warm-water waterfalls, and a drive-in volcano, than St. Lucia is the place to visit! There are several different places that you can go, and tours that you can take, to experience all of this. Some examples include Sulphur Springs, Diamond Botanical Garden, and the Piton waterfall!
The Piton mountains are a world heritage site located in close proximity to the town of Soufriere. The taller mountain is called the Gros Piton and it is nearly 800 meters tall! The smaller mountain, named the Petit Piton, is just under 750 meters tall.
St. Lucia’s local brand of beer is named after the Pitons mountains. The beer is brewed by a Heineken owned company called Windward & Leeward Brewing Limited. It is a must-try!
Pigeon Island is a 44 acre National Park located in the northern region of St. Lucia. It is also a National Landmark with ruins of Fort Rodney on the hilltop. The island was isolated from the mainland until a man-made causeway was constructed in 1972!
St. Lucia is an island located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. Because of this location you get a mixture of the crystal clear blue Caribbean waters with the darker blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
There are two main highways that circle the island. On your way to your accommodations you are likely to pass through small villages and towns. St. Lucia is a very mountainous island and you’ll notice that many houses are perched on hillsides!
